Reviews of gin lovers and Slovenian media
Džin #1
February 2022, Review and photo by @talk_about _gin (Instagram):
"The Gin of the Day is Džin #1 from Slovenia, made by Beyond Mura Distillery (founded 1/2022). Only five botanicals are used: juniper, coriander seed, lavender, lemon grass and chamomilla flowers. After opening you smell juniper accompanied by lemon and you get an idea of lavender and Chamomilla. Tasted pure, you have the same picture: juniper hands over to lemon until lavender and chamomilla substitute fruit with sweet fresh flavor. A tonic reinforces that experience of fresh and fruity flavor, the gin is wonderfully balanced. A great proof that you don’t need much botancials for an excellent gin!"

"@beyond_mura_distillery from Slovenia has gifted us with this lovely gin😍 It tastes really nice and very floral - the lavender kicks in and the coriander is also very present.
The showstopper is - of course - that it comes with a bag of butterfly pea flowers that makes it change color 💗💜
Surprise your guests with this “magic trick” 🎩🌟"

Excellent rated gins are also produced by Jernej Horvat from the Beyond Mura Distillery. How did his story begin?
Večer
Beyond Mura Distillery has developed its award-winning gin. Jernej Horvat opened the micro-distillery in early 2022, and sent the first product to the market at the end of January.

Gin is an alcoholic drink that has become popular again in recent years. We think of gin as a drink that has an intense juniper flavor, but today's gins are very different.

The biotechnologist called the microdistillery Beyond Mura Distillery (the name illustrates the connection between the two banks of the Mura). He introduced Džin in January this year. He is convinced that there is still room for his gins on the Slovenian market.
Vestnik
Horvat received an award for his gin at the Craft Spirits Berlin 2022 international competition, which is a recognition for him, but at the same time an additional impetus and confirmation that all the literature reading and experiments were not in vain.

With a touch of Prekmurje, one of the most aromatic gins that we have tried so far is prepared in a cellar near Domžal from a copper dome.
Domžalec
Near Domžale is a new and rather small distillery, where the "copper dome" rarely rests, Jernej Horvat, who moved to Domžale with his family from his native Prekmurje, happily says.
Modre novice
Jernej also officially registered his distillery at the beginning of 2022. He named it Destilarna Beyond Mura (Destilarna beyond Mura op.p.).

We went around and looked for new names - many of them have already won awards here and abroad. Something is undoubtedly true: diverse and interesting distilleries continue to spring up across Slovenia.
